Big bother

IT’S car crash telly of the most lurid kind but a glimpse of ‘Big Ron Manager’ on Sky has left me gasping for more.

Big bother

In the latest episode, we saw Peterborough United caretaker boss Steve Bleasdale experience a couple of days of managerial hell — player rebellion on the training pitch followed by chairman Barry Fry deciding to pick the team followed by ‘Big Ron’ himself being invited to give the pre-match dressing-room talk.

At which point, the ever excitable Bleasdale, leaning up against the wall and effectively reduced to the status of onlooker, finally — and understandably — snapped.

Suddenly announcing that he was resigning, he wished the lads well and disappeared out the door in a flash. And then, wouldn’t you know, The Posh promptly ran out and won their first in three.

And Steve Staunton thinks he’s under pressure? If he needs to know more, he only has to ask latest green recruit Sean St Ledger, a key figure in this madly compelling football soap, who has since departed for saner pastures at Preston.
