In what is thought to be a first such occurrence, Hamburg have the same sponsor as

Arsène Wenger’s side — Emirates — and regulations insist one side had to change.

As the away side, Arsenal were obliged to alter their kit — the Germans will do likewise when they visit London later in the group.

Arsenal kit manager Vic Akers printed up special yellow shirts with “Dubai” in black writing on the front.
