New Gunner Gallas fires shot at ‘fickle’ Mourinho

NEW Arsenal signing William Gallas has blasted Chelsea manager José Mourinho just three days after leaving Stamford Bridge in a swap deal that saw Ashley Cole move in the opposite direction.

The French international fell out with his former manager after returning from his summer break late, insisting he needed more time to recover from France’s World Cup campaign.

“I’m happy that I have joined Arsenal. I’m sure I will be treated better by their coaching staff than I have been by Mourinho in the last year,” he said.

“Mourinho is a good trainer but he is fickle with his players. What has happened to me has happened in the past to Ricardo Carvalho, Mateja Kezman, Paulo Ferreira, Asier Del Horno and Hernan Crespo. He uses us for his convenience.”

As transfer-deadline day approached, the outspoken Portuguese coach threatened to leave Gallas to rot in the reserves, before a last-minute deal with the Gunners was finally brokered.

“The threat of making me play in the reserves is incredible after what I have given to this club.

“In the last few years I have had offers from Italy and Spain but I have stayed loyal to Chelsea. But this has counted for nothing with Mourinho and that is sad.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed they will sign Brazil Under-19 midfielder Denilson from Sao Paulo once the player is granted international clearance.

Denilson, 18, nearly missed out on the move but the FA are reported to have allowed Arsenal extra time to finalise the deal, worth around £4million (€5.9m).

The teenager, who has captained Brazil’s Under-19 team, had made just 12 appearances for his Brazilian club and it is thought he could be loaned out to a European club, possibly Belgian outfit Beveren, to gain experience.
