Cole left out of Arsenal squad for opener

ASHLEY COLE has been left out of the Arsenal squad to take on Aston Villa in their Premiership opener despite the want-away left-back insisting he is available for selection.

The 25-year-old England left-back has been linked with a move to Premiership champions Chelsea but the clubs have yet to agree a deal, meaning Cole could be forced to remain at the Emirates Stadium until January at least.

Cole criticised Arsenal in the promotional material for his autobiography and was tipped to receive a hostile reception from Gunners fans if he were to play for the club again.
