Blues’ fourth bid for McSheffery

STEVE BRUCE has confirmed Birmingham have made a fourth bid for Coventry striker Gary McSheffrey.

Bruce is still keen to land McSheffrey despite now having four forwards at his disposal with the arrival on loan of Arsenal teenager Nicklas Bendtner.

Bruce said: “We have made a fourth bid for Gary McSheffrey. Whether it will be accepted, I do not know. There has to come a time when I draw a line under this.

“But, although we now have four strikers, McSheffrey gives us options because he can play down the left as well. He played down the left for Coventry for all of last season.”

It was Bruce’s strikers who dominated all aspects of the 2-1 win over Colchester.

DJ Campbell scored his first goal for the club and Bendtner showed his class with a clinical winner.
