Birmingham eye McBride

BIRMINGHAM manager Steve Bruce has made an approach to Fulham for American striker Brian McBride.

Bruce is on the lookout for a new striker after selling Emile Heskey to Wigan and is still trying to prise Gary McSheffrey from Coca-Cola Championship rivals Coventry – having lodged a new bid for the player on Friday.

However, with the new season less than a week away the Blues boss is keen to bolster his forward line and has admitted his interest in the 34-year-old McBride, as well as hinting Chris Sutton could yet return to St Andrews.
