‘More mature’ Barton lands new City deal

MANCHESTER City manager Stuart Pearce believes Joey Barton can push the club forward, claiming the controversial midfielder is maturing as a player and a man.

Barton has signed a new four-year deal following seven months of prolonged negotiations.

The saga saw the 23-year-old coming in for widespread criticism for dragging the matter out and treating City with a lack of respect.
