McGeady on target

AIDEN MCGEADY came off the bench to give Celtic their first pre-season victory with a 1-0 win over Everton at Parkhead.

The Barclays Premiership side, who were weeks behind their opponents in terms of fitness, were more than a match for Celtic but the Hoops earned a morale-boosting win thanks to McGeady, who showed strike pair Maciej Zurawski and Kenny Miller the way to goal.

Gordon Strachan handed home debuts to four of his new signings — Miller, Gary Caldwell, Derek Riordan and Jiri Jarosik.
