HARRY KEWELL has been ruled out of the start of Liverpool’s Premiership season with the injury that wrecked his World Cup campaign with Australia.

The club has confirmed he will not be able to resume training for six weeks, which means missing the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round tie on August 8/9, the Community Shield against Chelsea on August 13, as well as Australia’s opening Asia Cup game with Kuwait on August 16.

Liverpool start their league campaign four days later at promoted Sheffield United, with Kewell not expected to be able to train properly until the following week.
