Victory over Spain ‘lit up France’, says delighted Domenech

FRANCE boss Raymond Domenech may already be planning for Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final with Brazil but he admits he will never forget the 3-1 second round win over Spain he believes “lit up France”.

Tuesday night’s s comeback victory in Hanover – sealed by late goals from veterans Patrick Vieira and Zinedine Zidane after Franck Ribery had equalised David Villa’s penalty opener for Spain – ensures Les Bleus will now face the Brazil team they beat in the 1998 World Cup final but which then took their world title away four years ago in Japan.
