Juve manager’s wife fuels suicide attempt rumours

THE wife of Gianluca Pessotto has added to speculation that her husband tried to take his own life yesterday — revealing that the former Italy international “did not feel capable of being the team manager” at Juventus.

The 35-year-old fell 15 metres from a balcony at Juve’s headquarters in Turin and is still receiving treatment at the city’s Molinette hospital.

Reana Pessotto, who has been at her husband’s bedside since he arrived in hospital, confirmed reports that her husband had been suffering from depression.

“He kept telling me that there was too much difference between being on the field and behind a desk,” she told www.gazzetta.it.

Juventus are one of four clubs — alongside AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina — who are to stand trial in front of a sports court this week as part of the investigation into possible match-fixing.
