Police launch probe into Rams’ financial dealings

Suggestions of impropriety first surfaced in mid-April with police launching a review of the circumstances surrounding a takeover of the club in October 2003.

The inquiries centred around how a £375,000 commission fee was allegedly shared out. A formal investigation has begun.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing surrounding a separate takeover of the club by a consortium of local businessmen in late April this year.
