Spain blast Chelsea over Del Horno injury

CHELSEA have been criticised for supplying Spain with “vague” information about full-back Asier del Horno’s fitness.

Del Horno has been ruled out with a calf strain picked up playing for his club and the Spanish are seeking FIFA permission to replace the Stamford Bridge defender with Getafe’s Mariano Pernia.

And Spain’s team doctor Genaro Borras is complaining he was not given the full details of Del Horno’s injury.

“I am not saying that he hid the injury but it is true that he did not evaluate exactly what he was doing and the information we received was vague,” said Borras. “We did not have any news and we knew nothing of his situation.”

Borras said it would take Del Horno around 20 days to recover full fitness.
