FA consults Dickov on spit claims

THE Football Association have written to Blackburn striker Paul Dickov after allegations David Sommeil spat at him.

Sommeil, the Manchester City right-back, was reported to have spat in Dickov’s face during the first half of the 2-0 defeat to Rovers at Ewood Park on Sunday.

But there is no video evidence of an incident described by Blackburn manager Mark Hughes as “unsavoury”.

What transpired at Ewood Park was the second controversial incident involving Sommeil in a few days.

The Frenchman accused Arsenal striker Robin van Persie of making a racist remark during last Thursday’s 3-1 home defeat to the Gunners. The FA is also investigating that situation.
