Carr appeals dismissal

NEWCASTLE defender Stephen Carr has launched a claim for wrongful dismissal after being sent off for violent conduct in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Chelsea.

The Irishman was dismissed by Mike Riley for allegedly stamping on Lassana Diarra in the final Premier League match of the season.

But the right-back has appealed the decision of the referee and his claim will be heard by a Football Association disciplinary commission today.
