OUTGOING Rangers manager Alex McLeish thanked the Ibrox players and supporters for the perfect end to his reign.

The former Scotland international watched from the dugout as Kris Boyd scored twice to earn a 2-0 win over Hearts in the Bank of Scotland Premier League. Ex-Lyon coach Paul Le Guen will now take over but McLeish credited the fans for their applause after the game.

McLeish said: “I asked the players for a win today and they did that. I was very pleased with their attitudes because it would be easy for them to put their tools away and think of their holidays. It was a wonderful send-off from the fans. I was really touched by that.
