Irish model the way to go, says Wenger

THE Republic of Ireland’s twin-track approach to international management is the way to go, according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

“The Republic of Ireland opted for home-grown talent in Steve Staunton as their new head coach, but under the guidance and advice of former England boss Bobby Robson. That is a good formula for success,” said the Frenchman.

“It is a good example because if their manager becomes nervous then Bobby Robson can say ‘listen, I have seen that before, calm down my friend, the storm will go away’.
