Bakke Leeds’ blow

LEEDS midfielder Eirik Bakke has been ruled out for the season with cruciate ligament damage.

Confirmation of the Norwegian’s injury comes just three weeks before Leeds’ Coca-Cola Championship campaign kicks off.

Bakke sustained the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over Swedish part-timers Pitea, with his fears confirmed following a series of scans.

Bakke is one of the highest earners at Elland Road following the summer major sale in the wake of the club’s relegation.
