SPL warn Celtic to wait

THE Scottish Premier League have warned Celtic boss Gordon Strachan any appeal against rules preventing Roy Keane making a New Year’s Day debut at Hearts will fail.

“If players want to be registered for that weekend fixture, they must be registered by 5pm on the preceding Friday as the registration window is not open that day,” said a spokesman for the SPL.

“New signings are ineligible unless they are a free agent outside of the transfer window. Roy Keane was employed when the transfer window closed on August 31.”
