Stakes are high as Barca and Real face off

IN-FORM Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has urged his team to win for the fans tonight as they prepare for the showdown with Real Madrid.

The usual cauldron-like atmosphere at the Nou Camp for the annual visit of Madrid will have more tension than in recent years with both sides fighting at the top of the Primera Liga table.

Barca have been the early pace-setters this season, but their first defeat against Real Betis last weekend has reduced their advantage to four points as Madrid warmed up with a 6-1 thrashing of Albacete.
