Parry insists stadium will go ahead

LIVERPOOL chief executive Rick Parry insists the club will secure the investment to make their new Stanley Park stadium a reality.

Parry dismissed doubts over the scheme, which is now believed to be costing over £130million, and also denied speculation that chairman David Moores is now prepared to sell his stake in the club.

Parry launched a defence of the club's plans after Sports Minister Richard Caborn declared the idea of a ground-share with Everton "dead in the water."

Parry said: "We can't start talking about a start date. There is the rest of the funding to be put in place. It is more than we first thought, costs are increasing and the nature of the project has changed but we are confident we can fund it.

"People can assume what they like, but we are confident it will happen.
