UCC progress to Crowley Cup semi date

BATTLING UCC fought off a gale force wind yesterday to beat NUIG 3-1 and book a place in the Crowley Cup semi-final (Inter-Varsities Junior soccer).

Ger Creedon scored his first goal for the Leesiders in the 77th minute to cancel out an earlier Dom Gallagher strike. The right-back was only on the pitch two minutes when he found himself on the end of a pin-point cross from Erik Wieman.

The holders took heart from their equaliser and scored again three minutes later when Noel Nicholson finished with a neat shot from the edge of the box.
