Cole’s ‘tap-up’ appeal rejected

THE Premier League hope the Ashley Cole tapping-up row is finally over after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled they had no jurisdiction to hear the Arsenal defender’s appeal against the £75,000 fine imposed for his part in the affair.

Cole’s legal advisors are now understood to be assessing the options open to them before deciding how to proceed in light of the CAS statement.

The Premier League are keen for closure on the whole sorry episode, with CAS stating that the League’s rules did not provide for an appeal to another court.
