Big hopes for Keown

Leicester manager Micky Adams is hoping new signing Martin Keown can bring a touch of the Highbury magic to the midlands.

Adams won the race for the veteran 37-year-old central defender’s signature after the former England international was released by Arsenal after 11 illustrious seasons.

Keown’s career began when he joined Arsenal as a 17-year-old apprentice in 1984 before a £200,000 transfer to Aston Villa and a £750,000 switch to Everton. He eventually returned to Highbury for £2million in 1993.
