Real want Beckham back in action for Kiev clash

REAL MADRID want David Beckham to return to action next week despite the England captain ruling himself out for five weeks with a fractured rib.

The Spanish giants are “hopeful” Beckham might be able to take on Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League next Tuesday after he was injured in a challenge with Ben Thatcher during England’s 2-0 win over Wales on Saturday.

When the England skipper suffered a similar injury with Manchester United, he was ruled out for a number of weeks, but his bosses at the Bernabeu seem unwilling to wait that long.

They want Beckham to play in their crucial group match against Dynamo Kiev on October 19 and sporting director Emilio Butragueno is hopeful the midfielder can win his race to be fit, despite suggestions his recovery could take more than a month.

Butragueno said: “If anyone can return quickly from injury, it’s him. We’re hopeful he’ll play for us in the Champions League.”
