I don’t need a minder: Pennant

BIRMINGHAM CITY midfielder Jermaine Pennant is adamant he does not need a minder to ensure he avoids further off-field scrapes.

Pennant has vowed to stay out of the kind of situation which led to him allegedly being thrown out of a Birmingham nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

“I’m not a 12-year-old kid, but I realise the club are trying to protect their asset,” Pennant said.

“A lot was made of the fact that I would be getting a minder when I first came to Birmingham City. But I think that’s a bit strong and I can look after myself.
