Babayaro hits out at Mourinho

NEWCASTLE signing Celestine Babayaro has taken a swipe at Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho after clinching his move to the Magpies.

The Nigerian international full-back was unveiled at St James’ Park yesterday along with fellow new boy Jean-Alain Boumsong and admitted he did not feel he had enjoyed a fair crack of the whip at Stamford Bridge.

“When Jose Mourinho joined Chelsea Football Club, he had meetings with every player and he said he was going to be fair, everyone was going to get games in,” he said.

“But I was a bit disappointed. I have only started four games this season and coming to Newcastle was a great opportunity for me having had just five months to go on my contract.”

Babayaro and Boumsong, an £8m signing from Rangers, go straight into the United squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup third round clash with Yeading at Loftus Road. All eyes will be on the men drafted in to shore up a defence which has already leaked 39 Premiership goals this season.

While Boumsong and Babayaro are included in a 17-man squad for tomorrow’s game, as is Craig Bellamy after his knee injury settled down, there will again be no Alan Shearer, Patrick Kluivert, Nicky Butt, Stephen Carr or Kieron Dyer.

Shearer is expected to be fit after a calf problem for next weekend, while Dyer is being rested.
