Pleat backs youngsters to salvage Spurs’ season

DAVID PLEAT yesterday assessed the crumbling wreckage of Tottenham’s season and backed talented youngster Johnnie Jackson to provide the inspiration for Spurs’ survival battle.

Five defeats on the trot have dumped Pleat’s side in the drop zone and made Christmas 2003 a thoroughly miserable affair for the white half of north London.

Sunday’s 1-0 defeat against Charlton was the latest loss and a group of angry fans were still outside White Hart Lane long after the final whistle chanting for the head of chairman Daniel Levy.
