Barca score late winner

Samuel Eto’o saved Barcelona’s blushes with a superb late winner over Levante to ensure the Catalan giants will enter the New Year at least nine points clear at the top of the Primera Liga.

With title rivals Espanyol, Valencia, Real Madrid and Sevilla all playing on Wednesday, Barca seized the chance to stretch their lead at the summit to 12points, for 24 hours at least, after they survived a scare at home to mid-table Levante.

Barca took the lead thanks to an own goal from Jose Alexis after 28 minutes, but Levante stunned the Nou Camp when Mateu Jofre levelled the score on the hour mark.
