DISGRACED German referee Robert Hoyzer has rubbished claims that he was the instigator behind the match-fixing scandal that has crushed the credibility of German football.

Referee denies being behind match-fixing

The 25-year-old admitted fixing four matches for financial gain in January but is furious that the Croatian mafia are insisting that he approached them about manipulating matches.

“I am not the instigator behind this scandal,” Hoyzer said. “You just have to look at who had the most to gain to work that out.”

The German Football Federation (DFB) recently banned Hozyer for life. He is now living with friends and reportedly claiming unemployment benefit.
