Longford and Kildare reach quarter-finals

LONGFORD TOWN and Kildare County progressed to the FAI Carlsberg Cup quarter-finals on Saturday with victories over Limerick and Cherry Orchard, respectively.

Two goals from Shane Barrett ensured Longford Town beat Limerick 2-1 at Flancare Park to progress to the last eight for the first time since reaching the final in 2000.

Limerick pulled a goal back through Paul Finucane with ten minutes remaining.
