Portsmouth vie with Blackburn for Reid
Rovers had agreed a fee of around £2.5 million with Millwall last week for the Republic of Ireland international, but Premiership newcomers Portsmouth have now also made a bid.
The 22-year-old was understood to have travelled to Blackburn yesterday for talks.
Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric said he would not get dragged into a bidding war with Rovers.
Sylvain Wiltord was reported yesterday to be considering a £5m move to French champions Olympique Lyonnais if contract talks with Arsenal break down.
The 29-year-old Arsenal's record £11m signing from Bordeaux in 2000 wants to stay at Highbury for four years, but so far the club has offered him only a two-year extension to his current deal, which has one year to run.
Meanwhile, Wolves were holding talks with Italian star Dino Baggio over a possible move to Molineux.
