The Leeds midfielder faces the prospect of a lengthy suspension and a possible fine after being charged today for stamping on a Spanish opponent’s head during the UEFA Cup defeat by Malaga.

He will be dealt with at a meeting of UEFA’s control and disciplinary body on January 8 and is likely to be banned for at least three matches and possibly even longer due to past misdemeanours in Europe.
