Vieira ‘right to stay with Gunners’

PATRICK VIEIRA believes Arsenal’s impressive start to the new Premiership season has vindicated his decision to shun Real Madrid in favour of staying at Highbury.

Vieira considered a move to the Bernabeu during the close season but opted to stick with the Gunners, whom he captained to the title last season when they finished the campaign undefeated.

Even though Vieira has been sidelined with a thigh injury, the Highbury club have since extended that unbeaten league run to a record-breaking 44 games after starting the new season with four wins, scoring 16 goals in the process.
