FIFA last night postponed the World Under 20 Championships scheduled for the United Arab Emirates later this month because of fears regarding a war in the Middle East.

The tournament will be held at a later date though football’s world governing body will not decide when until the political situation becomes more certain.

The competition was due to start on March 25, and the Soccer football world trade fair being held two days beforehand in Dubai is also expected to be rescheduled for later in the year. In a statement, FIFA confirmed that the “world political climate” was to blame.
