Strachan unconcerned with Keane's admission

CELTIC manager Gordon Strachan is not worried about Roy Keane’s admission he could quit the club in the summer.

The Irishman who only arrived at Parkhead in January revealed he will consider his future at the end of the season, citing as one of his concerns a possible reoccurrence of a hip problem.

However, the Hoops boss claims not to be unduly ruffled by the 34-year-old's announcement.

"It caused a fair bit of stir in the media world, but nobody has mentioned a thing in the Celtic training camp," said Strachan, who is preparing for the CIS Insurance Cup final against Dunfermline at Hampden on Sunday.

"Nothing has changed. You have got to take what he said in context.

"That is exactly what he said to me when he first signed, we would have a look at it again in the summer which you do at that age.

"It is something that goes on late in your football career.

"You look at your career at the end of every season whether you have got a contract or not.

"You are talking to someone who decided to stop playing in January when I still had six months of my contract to go because that is the way I felt.

"And he was passing comment about his hip, it could play up. It was the same with me with my back.

"I packed in playing for Scotland because my back was too bad, then I got an operation and it was fine again.

"He is just warning everybody that there could be something around the corner.

"But at the moment, his hip is fine, he is playing great and is loving the club.

"The players love him so the world is good for Roy Keane and anyone associated with him."

Strachan added: "I would like him to stay another year, but not just me, everyone who is involved with the club.

"Nobody would disagree that he has been absolutely fantastic for the club and the players.

"Training was absolutely fantastic yesterday and as a matter of fact I cannot wait for the game to start.

"If somebody had said we could have went to Hampden and played the game then, I would have went for that."

Meanwhile, it emerged Celtic captain Neil Lennon had cut his hand in a domestic accident.

Strachan, though, does not expect it to impact on the player's match fitness.

"He was doing some tidying up in the kitchen. He has got a big plaster on his hand," Strachan said.

"It will not hamper him during the game unless he wants to give away free-kicks with his hands.

"And the big problem about lifting the cup for him will be Dunfermline, not his hand."

The Celtic manager quipped: "I cannot believe a football player was doing that!

"Surely they can get a maid in with the money they make, but Lenny was doing it himself, the silly boy."
