MIDDLESBROUGH manager Steve McClaren thinks his side have turned the corner since a training break in Spain last month.

Boro, who face Charlton in the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating Championship side Preston 2-0 at Deepdale on Sunday, jetted off in the aftermath of a 3-2 defeat by Wigan, their ninth league game without a win.

McClaren acknowledges that the break, which caused some controversy at the time, has been a significant factor in a run of results over the last month that has seen the pressure on him ease considerably.
