‘Furious’ Owen sets record straight

LIVERPOOL striker Michael Owen finds it “disappointing” he has come in for criticism from some fans who have believed reports he wants to quit Anfield unless they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The England international has yet to commit his long-term future to Liverpool, and his current contract has just 18 months left to run.

But he claims talks are going well over a new deal and is furious at reports earlier this week quoting him as saying he could consider leaving the only club he has played for.
