Houllier set to complete £9m signing of Bowyer

LIVERPOOL boss Gerard Houllier claims his summer spending spree may not be over as he closed in on completing Lee Bowyer's signing from Leeds.

On a busy day at Liverpool, the Reds moved closer towards finalising Bowyer’s £9m deal following the midfielder’s medical, while £10m striker El Hadji Diouf signed a five-year contract to set the seal on his transfer from Lens. World Cup star Diouf trained with his new team-mates for the first time at Melwood yesterday and he was joined by fellow new boys Alou Diarra and Bruno Cheyrou.

Houllier has also bought Diouf’s Senegal team-mate Salif Diao - although the midfielder will initially remain on loan at his club Sedan - to take his spending to close to £28m.
