More misery for Mutu

SHAMED Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu might finally get a criminal record - but for driving rather than drug taking.

Romanian officials, who have so far refused to investigate the drug taking claims because there was no evidence the offences were committed in Romania, have confirmed they will investigate reports he drove while serving a three-month ban.

Police said the 25-year-old, who was last month sacked from Chelsea and banned from football for seven months for failing a drugs test, was apparently snapped by a local newspaper behind the wheel in Bucharest.

Mutu was banned from driving for three months after a police chase through the streets of Bucharest on August 31. Mutu had been pulled over for speeding but then drove off and led police on a chase through the streets of the Romanian capital. The ban was due to end on November 30.

The Atac newspaper said the shots were taken last Tuesday - a week before the ban expired.
