SLIGO ROVERS rescued a point against closest rivals Dublin City to stay five points clear at the top of the eircom First Division after a 1-1 draw at the Showgrounds on Saturday night.

David Freeman gave Dublin the lead from the penalty spot on 31 minutes but suspension-hit Sligo levelled less than a minute after the restart when Steve Feeney scored from six yards.

Cobh Ramblers moved level with Dublin with a 1-0 home win over Kildare County, courtesy of Robert Brosnan’s 44th-minute winner.
