Forget Fergie — Mourinho is the main man for Kenyon
“He is quite exceptional and was from the first time we met him and talked about what we wanted to achieve at Chelsea,” said Kenyon.
“Obviously, he came with unbelievable credentials in terms of having won the UEFA Cup, European Cup and Portuguese League.
“Then from the first time the squad came together when we went to America last year, it was evident he was going to build a team.
“There is such a spirit in the place. That has been a major issue and that’s down to him and the backroom staff.
“He is also incredibly detailed in terms of his organisation and planning. Two weeks ago we talked and made plans for what we want to do each day during pre-season through to the start of the season. That sums him up.
“I think, undoubtedly, he is the best manager in the Premiership. It’s hard to argue with that, and I think he has to be one of the best managers in the world.
That is why Kenyon is determined to tie Mourinho to a longer deal than the three-year contract he signed when he first moved to Stamford Bridge last summer.
Kenyon wants Mourinho to build a Chelsea dynasty over the next decade, adding: “He has a three-year contract, but right from the outset we spoke about him being here for the next 10 years because we’re talking about a building process, not a buying process.
“He came to Chelsea on the basis of what we wanted to achieve over a long period of time.
“From that point of view it was always seen that his contract would go beyond the initial term and we’ve had discussions with Jose.
