Beckham to commit his future to Real Madrid

DAVID Beckham is ready to commit his future to Real Madrid, according to reports.

The England captain met with club president Florentino Perez at the end of last season, and is set to meet him again before the new campaign begins to finalise a contract extension expected to tie him to the club until 2009.

Such a deal would be likely to see Beckham end his career as a Galactico and he said he wanted to carry on in the Spanish capital and help bring trophies to the Bernabeu.

He said: “I’m playing for the best football club in the world and my desire is to continue to wear this shirt in the future.

“A big part of my decision to stay in Madrid beyond 2007, when my current contract ends, was my family, my wife and children, who love life in Spain and because of that I’m very happy at Real Madrid.

“Their support has been essential in planning our lives here. They’ve encouraged me a lot,” he added.

“I want to win titles with the club because just winning the Supercup isn’t enough. I want more and I hope to help in winning them.”
