Wolves play down Robson rumours

WOLVES chief executive Jez Moxey has denied Bobby Robson is the leading contender to be appointed the next manager of Wolves.

Robson is reported to have been interviewed for the job following the sacking of Dave Jones three weeks ago.

In his programme notes prior to Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Coventry, Moxey wrote: “We want someone with gravitas, someone who has experience of dealing with international players as well as at club level, and someone who has experience of having won things.”

But Moxey said: “Other people might read that and make up their own mind but they might well have put two and two together and got five. Until the interview process is completed I’m absolutely not going to be drawn on names.”

Caretaker manager Stuart Gray, Gary Megson, John Gregory and Micky Adams are other candidates.
