Wise faces the sack for pre-season incident

LEICESTER chairman Martin George is expected to take a tough stance with midfielder Dennis Wise who could be sacked after an incident during the club's pre-season tour of Finland.

Wise faces the sack for pre-season incident

George flew back from a holiday in Spain late last night and straight into a meeting with manager Micky Adams to decide Wise's fate after defender Callum Davidson was left with a double fracture of the cheekbone.

Wise has already been suspended by the Foxes for two weeks and told to stay away from their new stadium and training ground while investigations into the incident have been carried out by the club.

But George, in his second spell as chairman of City, is believed to be pressing for the severest possible action against the former Chelsea skipper.

It is believed that Wise will be lucky to survive as a City player and that the club are unfazed by, and will not respond to, the comments of agent Eric Hall who said that he would seek legal advice if his client was shown the door after one season with Leicester.

Leicester are already prepared for a battle with Wise believed to be earning around £30,000 a week over how much he would be paid of the remaining two years of his contract after what they are viewing as gross misconduct by one of their employees.

It is also understood that Davidson has now given his version of events to the club in a statement and the fact that Wise's days may be numbered at City are a reason for him being unlikely to pursue civil action against the one-time England midfielder.

Adams is also aware that it will be virtually impossible to maintain the team spirit ''the best I have experienced at any club'' if Wise is part of the dressing room after events in Scandinavia.

Wise has given his version of the incident to the club's solicitor Jonathan Waltho and he should know his fate this morning when the club are planning to release a statement outlining what further action has been taken.
