Piechna staying put

POLISH striker Grzegorz Piechna has ruled out the possibility of moving to Birmingham during the January transfer window.

Instead the 29-year-old wants to stay with his club Korona Kielce for the foreseeable future.

Blues had been hoping to invite the £700,000-rated Piechna, who has scored 16 goals in 17 appearances this season, for a trial period.

But Piechna said: “I’ve gone off the idea of joining Birmingham. I’ve decided to stay in Poland for the next six months.

“If I finish as top scorer in Poland, it should be easier for me to move abroad.”

Blues manager Steve Bruce is continuing to monitor Charlton’s £1.5million-rated striker Jason Euell and watched him in action for their reserves against Chelsea on Monday.
