Dublin City manager Gill resigns after FAI Cup defeat

DUBLIN CITY manager John Gill has resigned following Friday night’s FAI Carlsberg Cup defeat at the hands of Monaghan United, with head coach Noel White assuming temporary control of first team affairs.

Club Chief Executive Ronan Seery said: “Personally I am very disappointed that John has resigned because I know just how much he put into the role and how much he cares about the welfare of Dublin the club.

“On foot of the Cup defeat and given the perilous position of the club in the league, he felt that it was both honourable and proper that someone else be afforded the opportunity to take the club forward.
