Shocked Virgo says “jaw hit the floor” over Celtic move
The defender will join the Glasgow club subject to passing a medical and agreeing personal terms today after the Coca-Cola Championship side accepted a €2.1m bid for his services.
And Virgo had no inkling of Celtic's interest when Brighton boss Mark McGhee pulled him to one side at the weekend.
"The manager spoke to me to tell me that the club had accepted an offer, and he tried to make me guess the club," Virgo explained.
"When he told me it was Celtic my jaw hit the floor; it was amazing."
Playing in defence and in attack, Virgo played a vital role in Brighton's Championship survival last term.
But Gordon Strachan has already informed the Brighton-born player that he sees him as a right-back.
