Makaay fails to find the target on Bayern debut

ALL eyes were on Bayern Munich’s €18.75m signing Roy Makaay at the Olympic Stadium, but the Dutch striker failed to find the net on his Bundesliga debut, as the champions eased to a 2-0 win over VfL Bochum.

Makaay scored a hat-trick the last time he played at the Olympic Stadium, but had to be content with setting up a goal for strike partner Claudio Pizarro after 20 minutes.

The former Deportivo La Coruna man released Jens Jeremies who crossed for Pizarro to tap home. The Peruvian has now scored in all three Bayern of his Bundesliga outings this season.
