Congestion problems meant the match was delayed by half an hour to allow thousands fans queuing outside Celtic Park time to take their seats in the stadium.

Security chiefs feared fans would charge the turnstiles and UEFA took their advice on board.

A spokesperson for European football’s governing body said: “There will be no disciplinary case opened.

“That is because the decision to delay the match was taken by local security officials and we had to respect that.”
